Those Pesky Flies

Since I have copious amounts of fly tying materials, around 700-800 hooks and a planned year long trip to new zealand starting in a couple months I thought I better get tying, even if it does take a fait bit of time with these pesky things! I’ve been pretty lazy recently, haven’t done much at all, just odd bits and bobs but last night I sat down with the intention of tying a few of one pattern in one size. Ugly Flies!

Thought I’d make my first post on fly tying, so far my fly tying endeavours have been on big, deer hair or foam patterns, mainly because those materials I have absolute masses of! Turk’s Tarantula, Madam X, Hedgehogs and Deer Hair Sedges to name a few. Thing is, I now need to be tying up more imitative patterns for the rivers and for my forthcoming trip to New Zealand – will be heading there for a year starting in June!
